I like the information it has, the only site I would have prefered to use would probably be the wikipedia page. This told me some things I didn't know about cosplay that will be interesting to use in my paper.

Hegemony 3

Scar from The Lion King is a good example of hegemony because he gains the power of the throne and no lion wishes to follow him, they are required too because of their monarchy system's inheritence. Scar is a mean spirited and cruel king, only caring for himself with his hyenas doing his bidding, all the lions despise him and can't stand that he is their leader.

Hegemony 2

The game Lemmings is an example of hegemony, the Lemmings will go where you tell them even if it leads to their death from jumping off a cliff, as seen here. They will always follow no matter what, randomly stopping when you tell them or continuing on their journey, they have no choice in the matter.

Hegemony 1

In my opinion this picture shows hegemony by showing us a leader who may be in charge by his position being higher than the rest, he may not be anymore qualified. I realize this is an overanalyzation of this simplistic picture but I do not think I am that far off in a way that this picture can be seen.

Research Blog 1 & 2: Cosplay

I chose as the subculture I would like to research, cosplay. I chose this subculture because I am a part of it, I cosplay at conventions from time to time. I enjoy it greatly and think it would be cool to learn more about it.


I expect to discover how it started and why it became so popular, who is it’s most common fans, etc. Going into this project I already knew a lot including that cosplay is the word used to describe dressing up as your favorite comic book, anime, or video game character for fun. I do not see myself running into very many difficulties with this topic. This topic should be fun for me and I hope I do enjoy it.

Blog Reading Assignment Chapter 1

This picture to me shows postmodernism because a building being built like this has no practicality but is an example that someone could build something however they wanted. If someone built this they may think it is a supreme work, but others may see it as an abomination. No one is wrong and no one is right pretty much sums it up.

The example of a multinational corporation is the girl's iPod. This is a picture of Japan and this girl is using the same mp3 device that is common in America as well as all over the world. It is easy to see that Apple, the company responsible for making iPods, is doing very well across the world.
